Be sure to upgrade to the newest Peculiar sounds BEFORE installing the Sounds Off The Block expansion. I used the main Peculiar Sounds plugin to play live sounds for a show I did last week and I can’t wait to use this one for the next show! Getting this product as well as the Peculiar Sounds Module was a no-brainer. The sounds are so smooth and buttery. As someone who grew up in New England around Doobie, it feels so good to hear these vintage Powell sounds. This thing truly sounds amazing. And the sounds are POLISHED! Extremely high quality sonics. FULL! Really impressed with the way they sculpted these sounds.
I honestly wasn’t sure at first. I’m really glad I made the decision to pull the trigger.
This is that “icing on the cake” “Swiss Army knife” to our gazillion plug-in collection as producers. It is NOT a shelf piece; i.e. one of those plug-ins you buy, play with a little and put down because you didn’t really need it, no time to learn it, or maybe the advertising hype got you. I’m pleased to confirm Peculiar Sounds is NOT overhyped.
This plug-in puts the playing, expression and creative power back in the hands of the player. Zero learning curve. No need to do any major tweaking if any, but you can. You are buying this for the sounds, and the joy of playing them.

It’s hard not to sound good with it. How crazy is that!
Now, please note this plug-in is strategically and uniquely designed. It majors and specialises in specific things and not others. It is not a drum/beat library though the sounds are great. It’s not meant to be exhaustive in every category. But I guarantee you, WHATEVER you play, you’ll know what to do with it. It’s extremely playable and models the iconic style of the great himself, Mr. DP.
